I’ve been very stressed and a bit over-worked over the past 12 months, so I’ve very much protected my free-time as sacred time and value protecting it quite highly. It’s made me very adapt at being able to unwind on a strict budget. So here are some of my ideas for having a slow and nourishing weekend.
>>> Spend time outside.
I downloaded the AllTrails app so that I can find new walks around me so that I can stretch my legs, get some fresh air into my lungs and enjoy nature. I can’t wait for Spring to come and for some warmth to start seeping into these talks a bit more.
>>> Use a magnesium spray.
I used to take magnesium salt soak baths and I don’t have bathtub at a moment, so I’ve invested in a spray that I massage on right before bed. It tingles and stings a bit, but I’ve definitely noticed that I sleep more deeply.
>>> Social media detox.
You might have noticed that I’ve been posting a lot less on my twitter, instagram and all other social media accounts lately. Not constantly scrolling has been better for me mental health.
>>> Visit a spa.
If I really want to treat myself, it doesn’t get better than spending a day at the spa. A spa day is pampering at its finest. If you are looking at spa days in West Yorkshire I have some suggestions for you. (Titanic Spa in an eco-friendly, holistic, destination spa that will be sure to relax you.)
>>> Do something with my hands.
Be it gardening or painting or baking, I find it so helpful to slow my brain down to start (and maybe even finish) a project.
>>> Spend the morning in bed.
A long, slow morning in bed with an entire cafetiere of coffee and a good book by my side. If Chris Hemsworth wanted to bring me a plateful of fresh French pastries then that would just be an added bonus.
>>> Have an at home spa day.
I very rarely take the time to do my nails and take care of myself, so I like to take some time to do it right at home. Light a candle or two. Slather on a facemask. Bliss.
What do you do to relax?
