It’s been a very long time since I’ve written one of these style catch-up posts, so I guess it’s just best to dive in and get one with things. In fact, I think it’s been since November. Eek! It’s fairly different from the usual happy posts due to the lockdown, but I want to focus on positivity. I will freely admit that I’ve been struggling a bit with my mental health during the lockdown. I miss adventure, I miss friends. But needs must.
10 Things that Have Made Me Happy Recently
>>> Macbeth rehearsals went really well. We were 6 days off from the opening when the show was cancelled due to Coronavirus. It had been a lifelong dream of mine to play Lady Macbeth so hopefully I’ll be able to reprise the role later in the year. However, we are potentially recording a audio version of the show, so watch this space.
>>> Way before the lockdown, I got another piercing in my left ear. I’ve fallen quite hard for the curated ear trend, so I know that I’ll probably end up with another one as well.
>>> I finished Placement 1 of my PGCE year and I was well into Placement 2 when the schools were shut. And I absolutely adored my Placement 2 school. My teacher training with the university is continuing all online now.
>>> Before the lockdown, I had my brows laminated at Prept in York and they looked amazing. But now these gorgeous brows aren’t being seen out in public so hopefully I’ll have the chance to get them done again and have lots of summertime shenanigans.
>>> All being well with schools and passing my PGCE, but I have a teacher job lined up for next year. Hooray! I’ll be teaching secondary English and Drama.
>>> There are definitely a lot of things that I miss and anxiety has been high. But I am thankful for getting my Riverford, Flori Bakery and Bluebird Bread Deliveries.
>>> On Tuesday night, I stayed up quite late and went for a post-midnight night walk to watch the Lyrids Meteor Shower. It was incredibly beautiful and I managed to catch a glimpse of several shooting stars.
>>> Harold was featured on “I’ve Pet That Dog” which was pretty much all my dreams come true. I was the happiest of dog moms.
>>> I’ve ordered a gorgeous, sustainable summer linen dress from Not Perfect Linen. It’s tailored and made to measure so it won’t be dispatched for several weeks, plus mail delays but hopefully it will be here in early June.
>>> The weather for a lot of April has been absolutely glorious. I’m super envious of those with gardens, but it makes my Harold walk / daily exercise all the better.
What I’ve been watching lately: ”Tiger King” as well as re-watching all of “Broad City”. Listening to: “My Favourite Murder” and Fiona Apple’s new album “Fetch the Bolt Cutters”. Reading: “The Binding”
