Travel || Westonbury Mill Water Gardens

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Westonbury Mill Water Gardens last year when I was staying near the Brecon Beacons. The garden is higgeldy-piggledy in the best possible way, with follies and water features and tangled knots of plants.

It was a silly and lovely way to spend a warm day. It was one of those surprising activities that you do when you discover that you have a free afternoon and you still want to explore something different whilst you are in a new place. And I’m so glad that I did – it was one of the absolute highlights of the trip for me.

There was just something so joyful in playing around the follies and plants; following the spiral down the Giant’s hill and crawling through the bamboo. There was no one else in the Garden at the time and it felt like my own secret world.

There’s about 3.5 acres of garden. It’s open every day from the 1st of April to the 30th of September, 11 am-5 pm. Tickets are £6 per adult. You can purchase them here. Dogs on leads are welcome.

The garden are just off the A44 between Leominster and Kington. From Pembridge head towards Kington for 1.5 miles. The gardens are signposted in both directions on the A44 by brown tourist signs.

I found the Water Gardens so relaxing; have you visited one before?
