Birthday Reflections

Last week I celebrated my 34th birthday by being swept away without my knowledge by my boyfriend to the Lake District for a few nights. I had never been to the Lake District before, but it is somewhere that I had long wanted to go. We woke up early on my birthday and went on a gentle hike before munching on loads of gingerbread, calling my family, and going out to eat fancy vegetarian food. Then we came back from the Lakes and went to London to finally see both Cabaret and Punchdrunk’s Burnt City.

And that is exactly how I want to celebrate my birthday. With a big dose of nature, some fantastic eats and a load of good theatre. It’s not too much to ask for, right?

It seems like it was only yesterday that I turned 30. Yet somehow, I blinked and I am nearly in my mid-30s. (Though I am really saying that I just turned 32. Surely the pandemic years don’t count?)

I know who I am, I know what’s important to me and I know where I want to go. I am a long way off of my goals but I know how to get there.
