5 Things That’ve Made Me Happy This Week

A new year, new ideas, right? Well, I know that “happy this week” posts have been around almost since the beginning of blogging. But I decided that I’d like to give it a go, at least for a little while, in order to a)provide a bit more of a recap of my actual life/week for my readers and b)to focus more on the positive. So here it goes. A trial run.

5 Things That’ve Made Me Happy, and 1 That Hasn’t

(And this is a sneaky preview of an outfit post that will be coming to Rhyme & Ribbons in the near future.)

+Our bathroom lights died a terrible death two weeks before Christmas. With the holidays, our landlord couldn’t get an electrician in to see us until Wednesday. We now have light again. It is a wonderful thing. I no longer brush my teeth by flashlight.

+Sam and I were offered the opportunity to act opposite each other next week. Hilarious.

+The beginning of every term is the most heinously busy for me. I’m looking forward to knowing that this time next week everything will be much more settled down and back to normal. And even though I’ve been really busy, it still feels satisfying to have accomplished something.

+Nothing makes me happier than a good musical. When I’ve been feeling a bit stressed or blue this week, I’ve been watching some old acts from previous Tony Awards Shows. No matter how many times I watch this Neil Patrick Harris one, it never gets old. Also, I got a text from Sam at work yesterday saying “been humming ‘All That Jazz’ all day”. My work here is done.

+My new Cath Kidston backpack/rucksack. I nabbed it in the Boxing Day Sales. Yes, I carry a backpack like a kid (alongside a smaller purse).  And no, I’m not ashamed. Let all you heavy purse lugging women envy my healthier back.[show_shopthepost_widget id=”490016″]

And one thing that really bummed me out this week? Well, when most people’s wisdom teeth grew in (late teens, early 20s) mine did not. And those suckers are finally showing themselves. The worst part is I think they are growing in impacted. I’m a huge baby when it comes to the dentist, so though they’ve been agony, I haven’t booked an appointment to say “sayonara” to them.
