Blogging || Q&A with Dixie

Today I have a special treat for you! A Q&A with the wonderful Dixie, who I mentioned in my sponsor round up last week.

1

1. What motivated you to start blogging?

I started blogging in college, when I thought I had to be more organised with my writing. Before then, I’d usually written on anything I found nearest to me: napkins, bills, and sometimes, notebooks. Those usually got lost on the way, so blogging seemed like the perfect solution. Along the way, I started to learn more about photography, and blog was one of the ways to share it with my closest friends.

2. What’s the one thing that really surprised you about blogging?

Probably the same as most bloggers, it’s the people. It’s really amazing how blogging has brought me a lot of friends from all over the world. Sometimes I get choked up reading wonderful comments that people leave on the blog, and on rough days, reading those comments does wonder to my mood.

3. What inspires you personally?

I find travelling really inspires me, especially if I travel alone. Airports/stations are usually the best place for people-watching (if I’m not in a hurry), and the time on the plane/train is the best for writing – a great combination. And also, going to new places and experiencing new things are great opportunities for photo-hunting (plus it gives a bunch of things to write on the blog!).

4. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In 5 years hopefully I’ll be living in someplace new, with my own house and a photography side business. I would like to have ticked a few things off of my bucket list for travelling, while also kept on blogging.

5.  Who is your biggest style inspiration?

Amal Clooney. She always looks sophisticated and fabulous, while also playful. I admire her boldness in putting on accessories that seem out of place (mismatched shoes, lego handbag, or anything), and nails the look. That’s brilliant.

6.  What would your perfect weekend look like?

The perfect Saturday would be for sleeping in, then going out for brunch or lunch with friends. Sunday would start with a walk with my dog, then reading or binge watching. It doesn’t look like much, but with the commuting during the weekdays, my perfect weekend would be to stay in.

7.  You’ve traveled lots- what’s your favourite place you’ve ever traveled to?

This is a tough question! But I’ll go for Slovenia. It’s a place that doesn’t get the attention it deserves, and when I went there I’d had low expectation. It turned out to be one of my most unforgettable holiday! Ljubljana, the capital, is exactly my kind of city, small but warm and friendly. I also went to Lake Bled and Postojna Cave, which were really stunning! I remember feeling peaceful the whole time I was there, and when I got home, I had 2000+ pictures in my camera.

8. Where is the next destination you’d like to travel to?

I’d love to go to New Zealand and explore the nature. Besides the scenic landscapes, it has everything on my bucket list, from whale watching, swimming with dolphins, to seeing glowworm caves. I imagine it would be an all-in-one, refreshing holiday.

9.  What’s your favourite form of social media? (Instagram, pinterest, twitter, facebook, etc)

Definitely Instagram! I often get inspiration from seeing pictures on Instagram, from little things like recipe, art or room décor to technical things about photography. And also, it’s great to have a glimpse on people’s lives through their photos.

10. What kind of space would your blog ideally be?

For me, my blog is the space to document the things that inspire me and snippets of my life, and share it with others. I’d like to be able to look back on wonderful memories and hopefully inspire people.
