My 30 Before 30 List: Revisited

I turn 30 at the end of the month and instead of being stressed about it a la Rachel Green, I’m actually quite excited! I  thought I’d bring you an old school style blogging post and revisit my 30 before 30 list that I wrote last year.

My 30 Before 30 List: Revisited

>>> Prioritise skincare above any other beauty spend. : Check! I’ve done this one! I’ve really put a lot of thought into my skincare and it’s never looked better.
>>> Spend as much time out in the sunshine as humanly possible.: I’ve attempted it but the weather in York this year has been dreadful.
>>>  Be better at saying no, cut out toxic friendships and curate the positive people in my life. (So many pinterest buzzwords there, right?!) : Umm…. not sure. The jury is out on this one.
>>> Bring the number of countries that I’ve visited up to 20. Right now I have (England, France, Wales, Scotland, Poland, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Turkey, Thailand. So 12. 13 if I count the USA) 8 countries in a year is doable right? : I’ve added Denmark, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Malta and Italy to the list. So I’m still 2 countries short.
>>> Go for a spa weekend.: I haven’t yet but I’ve one booked in. Semi-accomplished!
>>> Finally get my super cute daschund that I’ve already named Harold. : Yes. Done and done!
>>> To have plants in every room and not have to rely on Sam to take care of them because previously I have killed all things. Done and sort of done. We’ve loads of plants, but Sam is still their primary caregiver.
>>> Edit down my wardrobe till it’s nearly capsule sized and I’ve developed my own “uniform” (It’s nearly there, to be honest!) : Currently in progress, but it’s definitely better than it was last year.
>>> Pass the life in the UK test in preparation for my Indefinite Leave to Remain application. : Done! I’m so glad this is off my shoulders!
>>> Go camping. : In progress! Sam and I are going camping in the Scottish Highlands this summer.

>>> Go on a roadtrip around the Scottish Highlands. : In progress. It’s already booked in for July
>>> Swap out fast-fashion for fewer clothes, but higher quality. : In progress. This is a lifetime goal.
>>> Get into the habit of drinking more water. And whilst we are at it, eating less sugar. : Epically failed. Not even close.
>>> Reach 10k on Instagram. (I’m only fluttering around 3100 at the moment so it’s a bit of a stretch). Not at all. Though I have grown several thousand since last year.
>>> Invest in my own camera instead of borrowing Sam’s equipment whenever it suits me. Also a Go-pro to make more videos. : Semi accomplished. No GoPro, but I’ve my own camera now.
>>> To go freelance full time. Nope.
>>> Finally take Sam to New Mexico. No because funds were too tight this past year.
>>> To run a marathon (depending on how the Great North Run goes in September…) : The Great North Run was super satisfying, however with everything I had going on this year, I fell out of practice running. This is still a future goal.
>>> Re-learn my French. : I ended up getting too busy with work, my doula course, blogging and theatre. Hopefully next year.
>>> Buy a house? (Though this one is a bit of a pipe dream.) : Umm… YES! And this is why some of my other things did not get accomplished because all my spare time and funds went towards saving up for the house.

>>> Eat at 5 Michelin star restaurants. : Nope. I’m at about 2 or 3 at the moment.
>>> Make more Yorkshire-based friends. Semi accomplished. I have loads of acquaintances but no core group.
>>> Stop criticising my body. And love it for all the amazing things it does. : An on-going process.
>>> Have a girl’s weekend abroad. : Sadly, no.
>>> Continue to read as many books as possible : I’d say so!
>>> Volunteer somewhere. : Sadly, no. Though I raised a lot of money for Beat during my Great North run fundraising.
>>> Stop overthinking everything. : Super fail!
>>> Focus on the positivity and try to stay courteous and kind: leave jealousy behind in my twenties. : I attempted it for sure.
>>> Stop comparing myself to others. : I’ve tried. I might not say I’ve been successful, but it was attempted.
>>> Be a better pen pal to my friends and family that live on other sides of the world: reach out first before waiting from them to make the first move. : I have also epically failed on this one.

What are you going to try to accomplish before you’re 30? Or if you’re already past it, what’s the best part about being in your thirties so far?
