10 Happy Things

Life Lately || 10 Things that Have Made Me Happy

Happy Friday everyone! Can you believe that Christmas is just around the corner? I’ve finished all my shopping but I do need to visit the post office still. I actually usually have all of my Christmas shopping done by mid-November and am usually feeling annoyingly smug about it. Especially as I try to do it all online and avoid the shops altogether. This year I was slightly behind, but I entirely blame Sam and the fact that he kept not telling me what he wanted for Christmas.

>>> I had a lovely and very chilled out Thanksgiving. I told Sam what I was grateful for this year and then after work, I ate my body weight in McDonald’s french fries, as is per my own personal tradition.

>>> Sam gave me a gift card for a massage for Christmas last year, and I finally used it. I was cutting it a little bit close having saved it up for 11 months, but I wanted it for something really special. (I saved it for when I officially started being a freelancer.)

>>> We had friends come up from London and stay with us. We had such a great weekend catching up, eating too much food and avoiding the rain. They shared with us some very exciting news and the future is so cheery! They also brought Harold the cutest ever Christmas jumper, which I can’t wait to get a great photo of him in.

>>> I  had a very exciting and mysterious phone call.

>>> I visited the Christmas Experience at Lotherton Hall. I shared loads of details on my instagram stories, but if you missed it; Lotherton Hall is a historic home that is all dressed up for Christmas. The inside of the hall looks stunning, and they have an Elf Village set up with workshops for the kids and stalls to buy gifts. But my favourite thing is the incredible 12 days of Christmas walk that they have set up on the grounds. It’s so, so magical and I can only imagine how much I would have loved to visit it as a kid.

>>> Sam and I went to the theatre to see an all-female production of Shakespeare’s ‘Coriolanus’. It’s not one of his works that I was too familiar with so it was interesting to see a somewhat new take on it.

>>> I’ll be in a production of “The Duchess of Malfi” at the Theatre Royal in the New Year. Rehearsals start right after the holidays end, so it will give me something to be excited about when those January/ February blues kick in.

>>> I’ve started watching “A Discovery of Witches”. I loved the book series, and yes, the show is a bit naff and overwrought but it certainly makes Oxford look beautiful.

>>> Advent calendar season starts. Sam leaves me advent calendar clues to treats every day, which is just about the cutest thing ever.

>>> We’ve decorated for Christmas now. Hooray! Whilst we don’t have a tree, we still have ornaments and boughs scattered around the house.

What about you? What great things have happened to you lately?

I’m going to a Christmas party this evening – what are your weekend plans?
