Studio || Prepping for Christmas

Today marks the last post of my 6 month collaboration with Studio. It’s been a lovely few months but I’m glad that if we must wrap up, that we are ending on a high with a festive note. So this month I wanted to focus on prepping for Christmas.

First things first; I was lacking a Christmas jumper. I had the same one for years but it sadly met a sticky end a few years ago. So when I saw this dachshund jumper, I couldn’t resist making it my Christmas jumper. Because like many dachshund owners, I love all things that relate to those tiny, energetic beasts. This jumper brings my grand total of dachshund themed household items up to a thoroughly embarrassing level.

One of my favourite ways to decorate is to set a beautiful table for Christmas dinner. My decorations are usually quite minimal and natural, so I love to save a few staples to use year after year. This wreath would traditionally be hung on someone’s front door, but I love using a wreath as a table centrepiece and fill it with candles.

It might surprise many readers, but until I moved to the UK, I’d never had a Christmas with crackers. In fact, they were something that I thought JK Rowling had invented for the Harry Potter books. So since they’ve been in my life for less than a decade, I still get a childish joy out of gorgeous Christmas crackers and insist on making them a part of our Christmas table settings.

One Christmas tradition that Sam and I have during advent is that he always writes me a calendar clue everyday and I have to hunt it out to find my treat. This little wooden advent calendar from Studio is perfect for this. Now my clues will live in an adorable little house and hopefully it’s a tradition that we can carry on for many years.

Though I’m not in to buying a lot of Christmas gifts, I am wrapping them this year in this copper starred paper. And I am hugely in to writing people thoughtful Christmas cards. Few things bring me more joy than receiving a thoughtful letter from a friend or family member. Though I live quite minimally, one of the things that I’ll always hang on to is a shoebox full of special letters that I’ve received from others. When I’m having a “down” day, I love to go in and read through some of those old letters. These Studio Christmas cards are beautiful and I’m very much looking forward to sending them out.
