Travel || Planning a 48 Hour Liverpool City Break

After finally visiting Liverpool for the first time, I was absolutely thrilled. I can’t wait for another opportunity to visit it again. It’s actually England’s most populous city after London so it comes as no surprise that it’s a really vibrant and exciting place.

Planning a 48 Hour Liverpool City Break

SEE / DO:

You can manage a fairly decent budget trip to Liverpool. There are a lot of free activities to engage in. I recommend maybe holding off until the pandemic is more under control to visit some of the fabulous attractions that Liverpool has to offer.

You can read more about what to do in my post: 10 Things to do in Liverpool.

STAY:

You can nab a Premier Inn in central Liverpool starting at around £50, which is an absolute steal for a city of that size. However, there are a lot of hostels starting at around £20 per night if that’s more your price-range. (I’d look at the Liverpool International Inn.)

But if you have a larger budget, Liverpool has some super cool, stylish and quirky hotels. Like the cruise-ship styled hotel, The Liner.

TRANSPORT:

Liverpool’s Lime Station has great rail links to London (2 hours), Manchester (30 mins) and Edinburgh (4 hours). Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport has a 24-hour bus to city connection.

Once you’re inside the city, there are buses for reasonably priced public transport. However, all the main attractions within the city-center are about 10 minutes walk apart, so I’d recommend seeing the city on foot!

EAT:

You have to grab a coffee at Bold Street Coffee. They have the best flat whites in Liverpool.

Brunch is my favourite meal of the day and Liverpool has: The Brunch Club, One Fine Day, Space Coffee and The Quarter all for fantastic meals.

Liverpool also has a Bundodust which is my favourite Indian street-food place in Leeds. Mowgli is also a fantastic place to grab a curry (with some fantastic vegan options).

The Florist in Liverpool is probably the most floral and instagrammable restaurant in the city. Almost Famous is renowned for it’s stacked burgers. The Smugglers Cove is a cool place to grab a drink.

What else would you recommend for a Liverpool city break?
