Travel || Sunset Vineyard Tour in Champagne, France

When we were in Reims for the partner’s birthday, I wanted to plan something really special. (Or even more special than having a week in France could be. So I booked a Sunset Vineyard Tour in Champagne, France. When I spotted posts on Instagram from My Vintage Tour Company, I knew they had to be who I booked for a vineyard tour.

The tour leaves most weekends about an hour before sundown from either Epernay or Reims. The tour will have approximately 4 or 5 other people, so it’s reasonably intimate. You are collected from the centre of town in a super cute Estafette Alouette Renault. Whilst you drive out to the vineyard you learn all about the history of the area and of the champagne process. Then you get to watch a sunset over the vineyard whilst having a few canapes and trying several different types of smaller champagne house bottles. That was one of the best parts to me; being exposed to champagne houses that I never would have come across before. Then there is the chance for 1 or 2 people on the tour to learn sabrage aka opening champagne bottles with a small sword. Since it was a trip for the birthday boy, he definitely had to learn this “skill”.

I couldn’t recommend My Vintage Tour Company more highly. Their service was fantastic and it really was one of the most memorable few hours that we had in Reims. And if you let them know in advance, you can most likely bring along your dog! We love a dog-friendly business.

The tour guide spoke French, English and Spanish but there are other tour guides that you can book on request who speak other languages. This was priced at €50 per person and worth every penny.

Have you ever done a sunset vineyard tour?
