tv tower from hotel

Towering over Alexanderplatz, you’ll find Park Inn Hotel by Radisson. It’s the tallest hotel in Berlin and the only thing in the area that matches it in size is the TV Tower. When I arrived at the hotel late Friday night I was delighted to hear that I’d been upgraded to a room with an Alexanderplatz view, so I hurried up to the 31st floor to see what my view was.

If you follow me on insta stories (which you should) you’ll have seen that the view took my breath away. I was nearly level with the ball of the TV Tower and it was stunning. It was so lovely in fact that I slept with my curtains open both nights so that I could see it as I was falling asleep and first thing in the morning.

It was delightful to be reunited with most of our core Chamaeleon reviewing group over our complimentary breakfasts in the Spagos Restaurant in the hotel lobby in the morning. And breakfast was immense. There was so much variety to choose from and the room itself was really light and airy. I easily could have eaten enough at breakfast every morning to fill me up for the day. (But I didn’t because I was saving room for Brammibal’s).

My room itself was large and comfortable and the tray of fruit and chocolate waiting for me when I checked in was a really nice touch. My only slight complaint about the room was that it was extremely hot and no amount of fiddling with the thermostat made any difference at all. There was a bit of trouble with the wifi on the very first night, but it worked like a charm the rest of the trip.

The hotel is a bit business-like and a bit soulless, but the rooms themselves are stylish for the price. Breakfast seemed to be dominated by a lot of sports teams, school trips and businessmen; but when you come to a location like this you aren’t really paying for hotel ambience. You’re paying for the fantastic location. You couldn’t hope to be better located in Berlin. It a phenomenally central location and if you’re just in Berlin for a weekend break and want to be as close as possible to all of the tourist locations then this is definitely your place. Also keep in mind (in case you are a light sleeper), because of its central location it is a little bit loud. This doesn’t really bother me at all but if it will prevent you from getting the sleep that you need to go out and explore Berlin, an Alexanderplatz location might not be the best for you.

Just as a side note: if you need to leave your luggage in the luggage room after you check out there is a €2 charge so make sure that you have change for that.

The Park Inn by Radisson is located at  Alexanderpl. 7, 10178 Berlin. Rooms start at €75.60.
