Travel || Eat, See, Do, Stay: A Guide to Paris

Paris is one of those cities that will never be over-rated to me. I absolutely adore it and I’d go back in a heartbeat every single time. So when there is the chance to visit Paris in April, I am never going to turn it down.

Guide to Paris:

Eat:

One of the first things I do when I visit a city is plan the different places where I am going to have coffee at. Because coffee is life. I’d recommend Fragments Cafe and Loustic. Then I’d recommend Holybelly (embarrassingly popular) and Buvette for brunch. To be honest, one of my favourite ways to eat in Paris is just to grab a baguette, a bit of cheese, some fruit and a bottle of something and eat outside. But if you are looking for something truly special, you must book into Septime. And then right around the corner from Septime, is Septime La Cave, it’s sister winebar and maybe the best winebar in Paris.

But we all know that bread and pastries are where my heart really lies. In which case, you must visit Poilane or Du Pain et Des Idees.

See/Do:

Because David and I had both been before, we tried to prioritize things that neither of us had done before. Like visiting the Paris Catacombs, which, whilst claustrophobic, is entirely worth a visit. I also drug him along to the Musee d’Orsay because it is my favourite museum in Paris. We also visited Pere Lachaise on a lovely spring morning as well. We also wandered around Le Marais doing a bit of shopping and spent a few afternoons just on the bank of the Seine. I’d also recommend exploring two of Paris’ islands Île Saint-Louis for its tranquility and elegance, and Île de la Cité for the obvious cathedral.

Stay:

We stayed at the absolutely lovely Hôtel Exquis. It is located in the fashionable 11e arrondissement; just a short stroll away from Pere Lachaise and le Marais. The rooms were tiny but quirky. Trendy, well-built and quite stylish. It also doesn’t hurt that the hotel is right next door to Septime Le Cave, making popping out of a late night glass of wine very easy indeed.

Have you ever visited Paris? What else should make it onto the list?
