ABCs of Summer

The official start of British summertime is still some weeks off, but I pretty much automatically assume that June is the summer. Spring and summer are the best times of the year. Whenever someone complains on twitter about the heat or wishing it was pumpkin spice season again already, I have absolutely no clue why.

I am a creature of hot weather, sunny days and light that lasts until at least 9pm.

ABCs of Summer

Autumn vegetable preparation. I’m going to try to grow some of ours this year so I need to get cracking on it!

Barbecuing at every possible occasion. There isn’t a single food stuff that I don’t think I’d prefer grilled!

Celebrate the 4th of July by eating my favourite American snacks for dinner. And maybe lighting a sparkler or two!

Detox. I want to have a social media detox weekend where I don’t pick up my phone from Friday to Monday.

Eating outside. It’s messy and there’s usually ants but I still love it.

Find a local pick-your-own farm to pick strawberries.

Gardening. Our garden is a bit of a mess and I’d love to make it beautiful.

Harold’s first birthday! Harold turns one soon and then only a few months after that we celebrate a full year of him being in our lives!

Ice cream. Need I say more? I hear Bouja-Bouja ice cream is the best vegan ice cream around and I need to try it.

Juggle work with traveling to visit friends.

Keep my toes as free from shoes as possible. Make the summer my best barefoot life.

Lighten the load and minimise the things in the house (again).

Make a flower crown.

Nature hikes in the sunshine.

Open air cinemas and music.

Painting the house and getting properly settled in.

Quiet nights at home relaxing in the garden.

Run more. Last summer I was deep into my Great North Run training and this year I’ve been rubbish!

Seaside trips. With the coast so close there’s no real excuse not to go!

Trip to Scotland! I can’t wait for Sam, Harold and my summer road-trip.

Uncover more beach glass.

Visa, visa, visa. I apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain and it’s the last hurdle. I can’t wait to be done. (All being well.)

Wedding anniversary! I can’t believe July 23rd has almost come upon us already.

Xylophone band practice. The Northern group is letting me down a bit.

Yoga classes. I have a studio in York that I love, but I fell out of practice this winter and spring because I was so busy.

Zip around in the car for some local, staycation travels!
