Travel || Brunch at Redroaster Cafe in Brighton

If you are visiting Brighton, one of the best places to stop for brunch is at the Redroaster Cafe. It’s usually quite busy so you need to book in advance. There was a mix-up with my booking and it was lost – no one’s fault! But the restaurant was super accomodating and managed to find us a brunch table despite it.

Rumour had it that it was some of the best coffee in Brighton which is why I planned to visit – long time readers will know what a coffee addict I am. I started with an iced turbo coffee and a glass of fizz. It was a holiday after all!

For food, I opted for the halloumi and courgette fritters with a poached egg, dukka spiced yoghurt and greens (£10.70). It was lightly spiced, flavourful and delicious. David had the posh bacon butty with folded egg crepe, local bacon, sweet chilli sauce on some brioche (£7.60). He said it was absolutely tasty and could have eaten another. Then we split a portion of skin-on fries with aioli (£3.70). I adored them and I could have drunk that aioli.

I would definitely return and this time I’d probably be tempted by the Bottomless Brunch option. Service was quite slow, but again, they were absolutely rammed. All in all it was a very enjoyable visit and definitely one of the food highlights in Brighton for me – and there were many bright spots!

Redroaster is located at 1D St James’s St, Kemptown, Brighton BN2 1RE.
