Outfitting with Superdry

It is no secret that I tend to veer toward vintage and vintage-style clothing. Luckily, as a teacher, I have gotten more compliments than side-eyes about my outfits. And folks, teenagers are the harshest critics and they do not mince their words. When Superdry reached out to me to style one of their jackets I was excited, flattered but also surprised. I had not been inside a Superdry in years; in my head, it was famous for the David Beckham leather jacket and the Idris Elba campaign. Some undoubtedly cool pieces, including some longer jacket styles, but too sporty for me. But upon perusing the coat and jacket section I was so wrong.

There are so many beautiful vintage-inspired leather jackets and suede pieces. As a believer in
not owning too much of one type of clothing item, I ruled out styling a leather jacket because I already have a tried and trusty one. (But if I had picked out a leather jacket, it definitely would have been the Classic Biker Jacket because you can never go wrong there.) As it is, I indecisively and agonisingly made my choice of the Classic Suede Biker Jacket in Brown. The jacket is a snug fit and I like to layer up, so I personally went up a size from my regular order, though you could also choose a men’s jacket for an oversized fit, I particularly like the longline jacket styles. This jacket is a UK 10 as seen on a UK 8.

Suede is a great option for Spring as it is such a good transitional piece. I chose to style mine with a high-necked blouse, wide-leg jeans and plain trainers. Once the weather has heated up a bit, I think this jacket will look adorable over a little sundress sans tights or a plain black maxi dress.

I love the 70s vibe that this jacket has and the best thing about suede is that, unlike some other fabrics, it just gets better with age, and becomes softer and more malleable. (Just be careful not to get it too wet!
